Our Advocacy

The Charles River Regional Chamber is a catalyst, convener and communicator in support of the businesses and nonprofits across Greater Boston’s inner western suburbs.  We foster partnerships within government and with other business associations and advocacy organizations to drive our region’s economic and cultural vitality.

Areas of Focus

Our Board of Directors has identified the following core priorities which we believe are among our employers’ and region’s most urgent challenges. We recognize that none of these areas of focus can be addressed alone. They are all interconnected and so are their solutions.

Our housing crisis is pushing workers away and hurting local business districts. We advocate for smart growth policies that increase housing supply and affordability.

We recognize the urgency of the climate crisis and need to shift toward electrification. We work to ensure sustainability policies are practical for businesses and support long-term investment.

Small businesses face complex processes and red tape. We help them navigate these challenges while advocating for clearer regulations and encouraging local shopping

Businesses thrive when workers and customers can move efficiently. We support investment in public transportation, safe and functional roads, and innovative public-private partnerships.

Workforce development and childcare go hand in hand. Gaps in training and the unaffordability of childcare shrink the labor pool for employers across our region.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are smart, lawful business practices. We support employers building inclusive workplaces that strengthen teams and communities.

We also recognize that every community (and every industry) we serve is unique. Our advisory committees, staff and board are here to listen, to inform and to identify key priorities throughout the region.

Advocacy Statements

We work on behalf of our member business and nonprofits to cut through the complexity and deliver timely and relevant information, resources and access to elected leaders/policymakers so that you can focus on what you do best – running your business/nonprofit.
