The Charles River Regional Chamber supports businesses and nonprofits along the Charles River adjacent communities of Newton, Needham, Watertown and Wellesley, and throughout Boston's inner western suburbs.
Newton
Just seven miles down the Charles River outside of Boston, the city of Newton is home to roughly 90,000 residents within 18 square miles. Unlike many communities that are established around a single main street or downtown, Newton is comprised of thirteen distinctive villages – Auburndale; Chestnut Hill; Newton Centre; Newton Corner; Newton Highlands; Newton Lower Falls; Newton Upper Falls; Newtonville; Nonantum; Oak Hill; Thompsonville; Waban; and West Newton.
Our Communities
Located roughly 10 miles outside of Boston, Needham is a community of just over 30,000 residents. Needham is surrounded on three sides by the Charles River and borders the city of Newton and the towns of Wellesley, Dover and Dedham. The town hall, built in 1902, is considered the town center and is surrounded by shops, restaurants and park space.
Watertown
Named for the water of the Charles River that largely makes up the town's border, Watertown has a long history as a center for trade, commerce, and industry due to its proximity to the river. Bordering Boston, Cambridge, Newton and Waltham, with a population of close to 36,000 living within roughly 4 square miles, Watertown boasts a strong life sciences sector and offers an urban suburban retail and business mix attractive to a long-time residents and young professionals alike.
Wellesley
Bordered by Needham, Newton, Natick, and the Charles River, the town of Wellesley offers its just under 30,000 residents multiple commercial districts, beautiful land and homes, two private colleges, one local community college and the advantages of a small town government.
