Thakore is a trailblazing leader in the field of palliative care and diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare. She currently holds the distinguished positions of the inaugural Sullivan Family chief of palliative care and chief diversity officer at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. With 13 years of experience practicing hospital medicine and palliative care at Newton-Wellesley, Thakore has made significant contributions to program development, medical education, and patient care.
She has been a driving force behind the establishment and launch of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, Upstander Training Program, and, her most notable achievement, the development of a Serious Illness Conversation Training program at Newton-Wellesley, which has trained over 300 providers and 100 nurses in effective communication skills with patients facing advancing illness. She earned the prestigious George L. White Award from the NWH Board of Trustees for her outstanding contributions to the industry.
